Currently, I am a senior with a Web Development concentration in the College of Information with a 3.0 GPA.

I was born and raised in Tallahassee and I attended Florida High, the research school pertaining to FSU. So naturally, FSU seemed like the obvious choice to go to college. Throughout high school, I had taken an interest in Web Development and had a knack for art. However, upon entering FSU, I found myself trying out different majors to be sure. Eventually, I ended up at the College of Information, back to my Web Development roots. There I felt at home as I continued in an area I had a genuine interest in.

One of the most helpful things I experienced at the College of Information is an internship in Web Development. Where, I came to the realization that, I was specifically interested in the Graphics Design aspect of Web Development. Because of this realization, I have recently decided to apply for a second major in Graphics Design on top of my degree in Information technology, for an even more specialized background in the field.

Combining my interests and my talents at the college level is what I consider success. My goal in life is not to achieve a certain level of wealth, but to enjoy life and enjoy what I do. A background in both Information Technology and Graphics Design, I believe, will give me just that.

I think it is important that people reach a level of happiness in their lives, especially if it is more challenging as it is to minorities. As a Puerto Rican, I find that a college education helps alleviate some of the stress Hispanics might have in surviving a day-to-day life, and allows us to more easily find happiness in our lives.

For Hispanics who decide to enter into the Information Technology field, I can say that it is such a varied field, with so many branches and areas of expertise, the opportunities it holds are almost limitless in today's technologically centered world. No matter what your technological interest are, a degree in Information Technology would benefit anyone greatly.
